Highlights
- Simpler everyday flow. Chats open first, requests live above conversations, and people are one tab away.
- Honest direct-link quality. Chats and contact details show Low, Medium, or High Google Nearby quality without guessing the active radio.
- More robust reconnection. Simultaneous discovery, duplicate sessions, stale retries, and Lab/production coexistence are handled safely.
- Urgent alerts in context. Urgent messages remain visible in conversation history and use a distinctive notification.
- Friend voice calls. Calls use direct Nearby audio with encrypted Internet-relay fallback, obvious ringing, and proximity screen-off behavior. Audio is never phone-mesh relayed.
- Optional Internet route. Choose a compatible relay server or switch relaying off while Nearby discovery and the message mesh keep running.
- Readiness and service controls. Check the live Nearby transport, background service, notifications, and battery setup; control the service from Settings or a Quick Settings tile.
- Field diagnostics. The hidden technical view covers direct links, link quality, mesh custody, outbox state, transfers, events, reports, and recovery controls.

Requirements
Android 8 or newer and Google Play services. Nearby, notification, location, microphone, and optional UWB permissions are requested only where needed.
